Director of Children’s Ministry

Principal Function:
The Director of Children’s Ministry is responsible to the Pastor for assisting the church ministry organizations to develop a comprehensive discipleship ministry for children ages 3 through 5th grade.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate a deep sense of God's calling to the Gospel Ministry.
  • Lead with a specific goal of making disciples and training children in the gospel.
  • Be a member at Community Baptist Church, or become a Church member upon accepting the Church's call to minister.
  • Review and affirm The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 in its entirety as the provided Community Baptist Church Statement of Faith.
  • If a candidate is married or has minor children,  the spouse and children must join and attend Community Baptist Church.
  • Ensure that any personal social media presence is free of content containing alcohol, drugs, immodest clothing, or unclean speech.
    • 2 Corinthians 6:3 We put no obstacle in anyone's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry
  • Adhere to the CBC Church Staff Code of Ethics (will be provided with a copy before hiring)

Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Minister of Education in providing resource materials for children and volunteers, with a priority placed on scripture memorization.
  • Be able to clearly communicate and teach the Bible.
  • Assist in enlisting, training and giving guidance to the children’s ministry volunteers.
  • Responsible for planning/overseeing all Children’s Outreach Events.
  • Consult Pastor and Minister of Education, as needed
    • Recruit volunteers as needed for planning, executing, and cleaning upfrom all Children’s Outreach Events.
    • Attend Children’s Outreach Events
  • Responsible for making sure all volunteers have background checks before working with any children or youth.
  • Prepare and submit an annual ministry budget to the Stewardship Committee, and adhere to those budget requirements. Consult with the Stewardship Committee and Treasurer, as needed for guidance and questions.
  • Develop a Plan of Outreach for the fiscal year to include all Children’s Outreach Events and utilize social media to highlight the Children’s Ministry and their Outreach Events.
  • Provide appropriate information to parents of children related to parenting and supporting children’s ministries.
  • Intentionally build strong relationships with the parents/guardians of the children in the Children’s ministry.
  • Develop their own plan of retention for when children are absent from church.
    • Example: send a card, text, or email to the parent expressing that the child was missed and sharing an encouraging scripture.
  • Work with other ministry heads in the use of ministry materials, equipment, supplies, and space for children’s events.
  • Keep informed on the latest materials and methods related to children’s ministry and implement as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Pastor.
